A gratitude-filled farewell from the Westcoast Dharma Society and

an invitation to our final weekend retreat May 11 - 13, 2018

Westcoast Dharma Society is ending its operations,

  • having achieved our goal of making Vipassana Buddhist meditation teaching and practice available and accessible in the Vancouver, BC and the BC Lower Mainland area; and

  • having completed a transition of sponsorship, over the last two and a half years, of WDS' major programs to two registered charities (BCIMS and Hollyhock) who are committed to sustaining the work that WDS began and has nurtured.

After 23 years implementing the vision of "promoting Buddhist meditation practices for the benefit of all beings", offering 174 weekend retreats, 12 residential retreats, 9 meditation classes, and 2 co-sponsored Dharma dialogue evenings, Westcoast Dharma's final retreat will be held May 11 - 13, 2018.

We warmly welcome you to join us for our final meditation practice event "Opening to Pure Awareness" led by seasoned meditation teacher, Dr. Susan Mickel, May 11 - 13.

Visit the Retreats page for more info about the May 11 - 13 retreat, as well as scheduling of retreats continuing through 2018.

We are deeply grateful to our Executive Director, Linda McDonald, to all the WDS Board members, and to a considerable multitude of volunteers who have contributed their heartfelt service to making meditation teaching and practice opportunities available and accessible across these twenty-three years.  With gratitude, we share the merit from our Dharma service and meditation practice with all beings for their happiness, welfare, and liberation. And with gratitude, we extend blessings to BC Insight Meditation Society (bcims.org) and to Hollyhock (hollyhock.ca) for their continuing success as they continue to offer meditation practice opportunities in this area.
